13th October 2012 Hegura-jima NW2 Overcast

Rain overnight but a dry dawn with a NW2 wind. The cloud cleared and it was hot by midday. More air in the afternoon and a pleasant temperature. Our early morning walk along the Central Track was eventful with an Eastern Water Rail watched walking back and forth across the path in front of us, a Siberian Rubythroat and 4 Japanese Grey Thrushes. At midday we found a Pallas's Leaf Warbler near the Drinking Pool and a pale eastern form Reed Bunting. At dusk 3 Whooper Swans flew over calling as they headed south.
