3rd October 2016 Unst SE2 Overcast

No frost this morning and with the continuing southeasterly our hopes were high. We saw a Blackcap on our arrival at Skaw but then just the Chiffchaff was seen. A Yellow-browed Warbler greeted us on our arrival at Burrafirth but then the very sad sight of a dead Short-eared Owl unfortunately having snagged itself on a barbed wire fence. At Halligarth there was a Redwing, a Blackcap, a Yellow-browed Warbler, the Wood Warbler, a Goldcrest and a flock of 17 Redwings arrived as we were leaving. At Setters Hill just a Blackcap and Goldcrest were seen. At Millfield another Lesser Whitethroat was present in our garden and nearby at Norwick a Yellow-browed Warbler and a Chiffchaff were seen. Walking the Haroldswick loop produced another Yellow-browed Warbler, a Willow Warbler, a Chiffchaff and 2 Brambling accompanying a flock of Twite.
